I've been most disturbed by all of the press this received...

I've just received the email today and agree with it as well. I've been most disturbed by all of the press this received. Even though I've never been in the military, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that revealing this would put many people's (soldiers and civilians alike) lives at risk unneccesarily. While I generally don't condone cover-ups, when it DOES truly concern saving lives and national security (as in this case) as opposed to those being used as false excuses, then I believe that it's much more responsible to stay silent about the matter than to claim that "freedom of press" somehow releases you of any responsibility from good judgement.

I'm also not so sure that "advertising" all of these beheadings are such a good idea either. Does it really do anything positive for the American people or soldiers? How does it really help us? We already know our enemies use brutal tactics, do these constant reminders really do anything more than convince more Americans and our allies that we shouldn't continue the fight? How many of our allies have already done as the terrorists wanted and pulled out of the fight because of the airing of these brutal beheadings and/or pictures of other brutality against our soldiers, such as their bodies being burned and dragged through the streets or strung up? I would much rather see and hear about our victories. That should be getting more press than our defeats! You can't raise the spirits of a person or a nation by constantly throwing their defeats in their faces. Obviously, the internet changes things, as people will be able to find whatever news they want, but our own networks should at LEAST give us balanced coverage, not this wholly negative coverage. It's truly sickening!

Comments:
I couldn't agree more with this persons comments! I downloaded and watched the Berg incident, but have no desire to repeat it. The insurgents are beheading people to get attention and control people through fear and intimidation. These tactics are being rewarded by so much coverage in the press! As proof you can see countries are pulling out after seeing one of their own butchered in this manner.

I double agree about the negative reporting we are getting from the general news coverage. It is obvious that it is all politically motivated! It seems that many "Americans", (and I say that very loosely), will say anything to further thier political ambitions, even if it causes great harm to our national security, the lives of our troops, and our mission in Iraq. These people apparently don't have the foggiest notion about what is required to defend this nation against threats. In fact they seem so concerned about their political agendas that THEY ARE BECOMING A PART OF THAT THREAT!

I encourage everyone to contact your local media and express your concern over these matters. Maybe if enough people confront them with this they will start being more responsible journalists!
