Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests Overdue

During the months of September and October, three requests were made to the Department of the Navy for information under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The first was made on Sunday, 11 September 2005; the second was made on Saturday 24 September 2005, and the third was made on Saturday 1 October 2005. All were made using the US Navy's Online FOIA Request Form at:

http://foia.navy.mil/OnlineFoiaRequestForm.asp

All three requests resulted in an automated response that indicated that a response could be expected in 20 working days.

Here is a list of them with thumbnails of the request, along with date of the request, and the due date based upon 20 working day cycle:
  1. Requests all documents that relate to monitoring of website(s) and/or seeks to limit or cease publication of website(s). Submitted 09/11/05; Due on Monday 3 October 2005.
  2. Requests copies of FHTNC reports to CHINFO and others the degree of unit participation in the fleet home town news program. Submitted 09/24/05; Due on Tuesday 25 October 2005.
  3. Requests all electronic and/or hardcopy list(s) and/or related correspondence of websites that have been blocked and/or filtered from viewing by US Navy and/or USMC personnel. Submitted 10/01/05; Due on Tuesday 1 November 2005.
As of this writing, has been no response. My sources tell me that FOIA requests generally get slipped past their due date. But, ultimately, there will be an answer. Well, I am definitely not going to hold my breath.

~G: More to come. Definitely more requests to come; but responses, I don't know for sure when/if there will be one.
