USAFNS Help Information Click on a State from the list above to view releases. Instructions for using US Armed Forces News Service Releases: These news releases are organized by the service members home state and the service members family(ies) state(s) of residence. Also, in the case of reservists, the service members employers state. This means that conceivably, one single news release could appear in several different state listings. Click an abbreviaion enclosed in the brackets "[]" or click on [ Home ] and then use the "News Release Map" for a graphical representation of the United States to view releases. Following state selection, you will be presented with a list of news releases for that state. Click on a release subject to read that release. Once a state has been selected, there are three ways to locate a release as follows:      1 - Sorted by Date of Posting.      2 - Sorted by last name.      3 - You may also search for a specific town, school, military unit or any other information that is contained in the releases. The search feature is a full text search, so one may search for anything. The search feature is not case sensitive. You are encouraged to leave a message for the service member, their family, friends and buddies. To do so, please click on "Post Message" at the top of that release. When posting a message, you must enter your name, and message text. Optionally, you may enter your email address, which will allow service members and others to correspond directly with you via Email. This software is programmed to remove profanity, vulgarity and insulting language. If you find a word that should be added to our prohibited list, please let us know via email to Webmaster. Instructions for using search function: Proper Name Searches: Enter a service members last name, ie, Smith OR - Enter a service members full name, ie, John W. Smith Military Unit Searches: Enter a Naval ship name, ie, USS Constellation OR - Enter a ship designation, ie, (CV-64) OR - Enter a squadron designation, ie, VFA-151, VMFA-312, MEU, etc. Miscellaneous: You may enter city/town names, high school names, employer names, etc. to find those from a specific city, high school or employer.
