Website History (What's New?):

  • 2005-10-27: Changed All Pages to New Header See 2005-07-29 entry. New graphic requires 17KB vs. 60KB.
  • 2005-10-22: Revised Individual News Release Pages News Release pages have a new look. I changed appearance of the news. The font and color have been changed to help the reader distinguish between the news and the other information on the news release pages. It should be easier and more enjoyable to read them now.
  • 2005-10-21: Added Stan's Roll Call Blog Stan is a cyber buddy that I have never met. We met through "Slow Bell" (www.slowbell.com) website several years ago. Stan and his friends from Slidell, LA are valiantly trying to maintain contact following the ravages of Katrina & Rita. Visit the blog to learn of the hardships and disappointments that they are experiencing trying to get their homes repaired, or simply to find living accommodations anywhere. Truly heart rending.
  • 2005-07-29: Revised Home Page The page has a new look. The objective of the change is to reduce the size of the "Header." Google indexes only the first 101K bytes per page. The graphics of the five seals used over 60K bytes, so many of the pages were not completely indexed.
  • 2005-07-27: Updated Military Humor The page has a new look, and the ability to post and maintain is much easier. We plan to post a new joke daily.
  • 2005-05-15: Added Random Images From Friends. If you have any photos of military subjects that you wish published on the "Friends" page, send them to Webmaster. Please, NO PHOTOS OF MINORS!
  • 2005-03-05: Added cartoons to Military Humor
  • 2005-01-11: Added Military Humor
  • 2004-11-15: Added Random Photos - Army, Navy, USMC, USCG, USAF, and Department of Defense.
  • 2004-06-10: Added Google Search capability to all USAFNS webpages. Set to default to searching www.usafns.com pages only.
  • 2004-05-18: Added Google advertisements to produce an income to help pay for server rent and software.
  • 2004-03-11: Added ICRA PICS Label to identify website as appropriate for children. Also, installed homegrown visitor counter. Visitor counter now displays visitors to page being viewed, as well as the total visitor page count for website.
  • 2003-12-19: Removed the capability for visitors to leave messages for the troops. Unfortunately, this action was necessary due to abuses.
  • 2003-12-18: Awarded Military.Com's Distinguished Site Award for 2004.
  • 2003-12-14: Added Frequently Asked questions (FAQ) page.
  • 2003-10-16: Posted New APO Zips for Soldiers in Iraq on Email Our Troops! page.
  • 2003-09-11: Life time of releases set for 60 days.
  • 2003-01-28: Website announced. Commenced URL submissions to Search engines

The Internet Content Rating Association is an international, independent organization that empowers the public, especially parents, to make informed decisions about electronic media by means of the open and objective labelling of content. ICRA's dual aims are to:

1 - Protect children from potentially harmful material.
2 - To protect free speech on the internet.

A key point is that the Internet Content Rating Association does not rate internet content - the content providers do that, using the ICRA system. ICRA makes no value judgement about sites.

Users, especially parents of young children, can set their internet browser to allow or disallow access to web sites based on the objective information declared in the label and the subjective preferences of the user. The ICRA system can be used with Microsoft's Internet Explorer immediately, with wider applications under development. The existing RSACi labels can continue to be used in both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator but will be phased out over time.

ICRA is a non-profit making organization with offices in both Brighton, UK and Washington DC, USA. Members include many of the internet industry's leading names from around the world.
